Ugbade said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria while reacting to the super Eagle’s crushing of Cameroon.

He said that no country in the world had the crop of talents in football like Nigeria.

“If only we can shun complacency, no team or country can beat us.
“The match with Cameroon was a good example, we saw a more committed team,” Ugbade said.

The former captain, who congratulated the Super Eagles on their victory, urged them to repeat the feat in their second leg.

According to him, from what I saw today in Uyo, Nigeria will not lose in Cameroon in the second leg.

Acting Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in her office at Ikeja.

Ambode

The Lagos State Government  on Thursday said it had registered 14 cinema houses in the last two years.

Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, Acting Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in her office at Ikeja, Lagos.

“The  Lagos State Government registered the cinema houses between March 2015 and March 2017."

“Prior to now, it was only 11 cinema  houses  that registered with the government; but, with the additional three newly built cinemas, this makes up the 14 cinemas in the state."

“All the 14 cinemas have registered with the government through the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board."

“The idea is to have the records of the cinema houses existing in the city,’’ Akinsola said

According to her, the additional three cinemas centres include “Genesis de Luxe’’ in Sangotedo, “Silverbird Cinema’’ in Amuwo Odofin and “Metropolitan Cinemas’’ at Onipanu.

She said that the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board was a regulatory body established to control the film and video industry  under the Lagos State Laws  in 2004.

“The Censors Board is empowered to regulate and control cinematographic works and exhibitions."

“The board is also empowered to control and regulate the production of films; it  also controls and regulates the show of films in cinemas."

“This is to prevent the production of undesirable or dangerous acts against public order and decency,’’ she said.

Akinsola said that government would continue to intensify efforts to ensure that Lagos State remained on top in entertainment and tourism activities.

COSMETIC fillers are becoming more affordable and more accessible, but for one woman a simple procedure turned her world upside down.

Carol Bryan

Carol Bryan visited her cosmetic surgeon to have dermal fillers in her face but it went horribly wrong, according to The Sun.

Carol Bryan

She was injected with two different fillers, combined in a syringe, in an area she shouldn’t have been and her face was left swollen and disfigured.
The reaction was so bad it left her blind in one eye and Carol said she contemplated taking her own life as she hid from not only her family and friends, but her own reflection in the mirror.

Carol Bryan

She told the The Independent: “I felt like I had the head of an alien, my forehead so heavy that it fell and covered my eyes so that I could not see unless I taped or held up my forehead.”
But Carol, from Florida, was no stranger to cosmetic procedures, having used Botox since she was in her late 30s.

Carol Bryan

In 2009, when she was 47, she decided to try fillers after cosmetic doctors told her she had lost the volume in her forehead and cheekbones.
It was a decision she would live to regret.
She hid away for three years until her daughter intervened and convinced her to move to Los Angeles to seek help.

Then, corrective surgery on her forehead damaged her optic nerve and caused her to go blind.

Carol Bryan

She said: “The pain of the corrective procedures is not quite describable. Then, years later, with the multiple surgeries to my face, each one was just as painful as the one previous.
“To anyone reading my story, I hope they will understand first that they are beautiful just as they are and deserve to be loved. Our collective perspective on beauty is so flawed that it is increasingly rare to meet someone who sees his/her own beauty.

Carol Bryan

Now, Carol is using her experience to help others struggling with disfigurement in her role as director of Face2Face Healing.
The organisation helps people emotionally and physically adapt to disfigurement after all medical help is done.

Carol Bryan

Carol wrote in her testimony to the organisation: “I have done so well at overcoming many challenges and now I can help others.
“I think that this focus and feeling will help me along my continued journey.
“I would love to be able to participate through Skype in your support group meetings when you get that set up.”

BRITISH adults consume around a whopping 100 million fast food and takeaway meals every week, resulting in an “increased cancer risk”, a report reveals. Each week, UK adults eat in excess of 79 million ready meals and 22 million takeaways.

UK adults

Despite being better informed about calorie guidelines, young adults are seven times more likely than over-65s to eat fast food or microwave meals, pizzas and chips at least once a week, according to the study by Cancer Research UK.

UK adults

The report also shows that men are more keen on ready meals, sweets and soft drinks than women, with just over 55 per cent tucking into convenience food at least once weekly, compared to 44 per cent of women.
Overall, UK adults consume up to 300 calories more than the recommended daily amount.
Alison Cox, director of cancer prevention at Cancer Research UK, said: “These figures show that ‘grab and go’ foods and a growing appetite for takeaways and ready meals are helping to propel us towards an epidemic of larger waistlines and

UK adults

During the study, more than 3200 respondents had their body mass index (BMI), physical activity levels and diet patterns measured, as well as their knowledge of obesity being linked to health conditions including cancer. The figures, based on a YouGov survey, follow an earlier report showing that just one in four people are aware of the link between obesity and cancer, with 63 per cent of adults recorded as obese in 2015.
The findings also showed 71 per cent of men and 61 per cent of women were “sufficiently active”, including 46 per cent of obese participants, leading the report to conclude that exercise is not the only solution to reducing the obesity epidemic.

UK adults

Jyosyna Wohra, head of the Policy Research Centre for Cancer Prevention, the team which published the report, said the onus should be on food manufacturers to reduce salt, sugar and fat levels in their products.
She told the Press Association: “We do know that obesity has been increasing in the UK due to lifestyle choices that people make, including turning to ready meals because of convenience.

“We want the food industry to look at the report and look at how they can make (their products) healthier.”

A WOMAN has lived her life feeling socially isolated due to a rare metabolic condition that makes her smell like fish.

metabolic

Kelly Fidoe-White, suffers from Trimethylaminuria — a disorder more commonly known as ‘fish-odour syndrome’.
People suffering with the metabolic condition regularly produce a range of strong bodily odours including rotten fish, onion and faeces — Kelly describes her own smell as ‘fishy-oniony’.
Her smell was so potent that at one point Kelly, from Greater Manchester in the UK, was having four showers a day — scrubbing her skin until it was red raw to rid herself of the odour.
After receiving several complaints about her smell at work over the years, the 36-year-old now suffers from severe anxiety and works night shifts at her job as a radiographer to limit the amount of people she is exposed to.
At one stage, Kelly was having four showers a day, changing her uniform twice and using whole cans of deodorant to try and mask the smell — none of which worked.
Kelly said: “Besides the smell itself, there are very few other symptoms at all and of course you have the side effects of anxiety, social isolation — it’s hard.
“As far as I know, this condition affects 300 to 600 people worldwide — it’s not very well known.”

metabolic

Kelly’s condition means her body is unable to break down certain compounds found in foods that contain a substance called choline.
This results in the body disposing these compounds in a person’s sweat, breath and urine instead — emitting the most pungent of smells that Kelly herself cannot detect.
She said: “Having no sense of smell, I don’t know with me what really affects it.
“There is no magic pill that you can take to make it better, I personally take a cocktail of medications.
“One of the things they [the doctors] turn around and say to you is: ‘If it smells going in, it’s going to smell going out.’
“So things like fish and seafood are major triggers.”
Kelly’s lack of smell is an unfortunate coincidence and is not part of the condition.
Despite only receiving a diagnosis two years ago, Kelly doesn’t know whether it was passed to her genetically or she developed it during her later youth.
But she began to notice something was wrong during her early school years.
Kelly said: “There was more than one occasion where I would say: ‘I’ve had fish paste sandwiches for my lunch,’ when kids would say ‘You smell like fish.’
“That was difficult to deal with as a teenager.
“I was spending a stupid amount of time in the shower just before my diagnosis. Using red hot water, scrubbing until my skin was bright red and it was just too stressful.”

metabolic

Kelly’s mother, Sandra Fidoe, added: “The fact that she was bullied about it made it 10 times worse for her and certainly for me. It bothered me.”
Kelly started seeing a doctor in her late teens, but nobody could diagnose her. After researching her symptoms and watching documentaries, she pushed doctors for an answer and was diagnosed with Trimethylaminuria in 2015.
Learning more about her condition led to her discovering that the copious amount of scented deodorants she was using and the relentless showering was actually making her skin react, which caused her odour to be stronger.
Now, Kelly uses Seba-Med body wash, which is PH neutral and much more sensitive for her skin.
She also takes regular medication including; daily B-2 tablets which enhances her body’s ability to metabolise the choline in her diet and Acidophilus, which is a probiotic that rebalances the bacteria throughout the body.
On top of that, she takes Activated Charcoal once a day after she has eaten to clean out her digestive system.
Thankfully for Kelly, she found love online 16 years ago with her now husband, Michael, who she says makes things easier for her.

metabolic

Michael, 45, said: “Kelly’s smell has sometimes affected me in a negative manner but I haven’t said anything to Kelly. I’ve just kept it to myself.
“When we were living together at the start I did notice it.
“But it wasn’t straight away when we first started seeing each other — it was never a problem.
“I don’t believe she tried to hide it either.
“Kelly wasn’t that confident when we first met — and I think the best way of me helping her with the condition is to just be supportive about the condition.
“If that was me living with the condition, I think I would struggle to do as much as Kelly does.”
Kelly added: “Michael has helped me to cope by making me see the funny side of the condition.
“I am sure he won’t mind me saying this, but he produces his own smell anyway!”
Since working night shifts at The Royal Oldham Hospital, Kelly has recently been more open and honest about her condition with her closest work colleagues.
Faysal Bashir works alongside Kelly as a CT/MR radiographer.

metabolic

He said: “You could trace Kelly’s smell up the corridor. It’s quite a strong, distinct smell you get from Kelly.
“When Kelly told me about her condition I didn’t take it in for some reason and so I have always called it ‘fishiyatitus.’
“I have had many complaints about Kelly’s smell to me and from a variety of staff in the department.
“It’s hard when you get these complaints as Kelly is a good friend.
“But working with Kelly for two years as my night buddy means we have a good communication where I could tell her to go and freshen up.”
Asha Feroz, a diagnostic radiographer who also works with Kelly, said: “Certain people do make comments.
“It was upsetting how people were dealing with it and at that point, Kelly wasn’t herself.
“I have got used to the smell. So it doesn’t affect my work at all.”
As much as Kelly’s friends and family have helped her through the hardships she has faced in life, it was the final diagnosis she received that allowed her to start accepting the condition with a sense of closure.
And now Kelly feels confident enough to raise awareness and speak about her condition in the hope that she can destigmatise it and people can tell her what is working to calm the smell.
Kelly said: “From watching documentaries, things started to fall into place and it sounded like it could be me when someone said it’s not just a fish odour.
“And ultimately I ended up being tested and it came back positive.
“I am more chilled about it now. I can’t say that if somebody complains tomorrow, I wouldn’t still find it a little bit cutting.
“But I deal with it by educating that person now.”
